Cellist and composer David Barbenel creates atmospheric and emotional pieces through the intuitive layering of acoustic textures and has contributed to a diverse range of projects: recordings, live performances, film scores, theater works, radio pieces and art installations.
Renowned collaborators include Brian Eno, Band of Holy Joy, Gina Birch, John Moore, Ebe Oke, Richard Evans, Ecstasy of St Theresa, Daniel Lea and Jonathan Bohman. He’s worked with visual artists like Fredrik Heyman, Richard Nik Evans and Fritz Stolberg.
Highlights include scoring the 2012 theatrical adaptation of Birdy, which toured the UK, and Resonance FM radio shows evoking writers like Kafka and Shepherd through powerful sonic atmospheres.
