FAQ

How do you treat your artists and collaborators?

We strive to create a working environment based on transparency, fairness, trust and mutual respect with all our artists and collaborators.

Does Alors license music to companies that harm the planet?

Alors will not license music to any companies considered to be exploitative to humans, animals and the environment. This includes the sale and promotion of arms and military equipment, fossil fuels, industrial animal farming and land exploitation, anything that is illegal in the UK or that conflicts with the European Convention on Human Rights.

What about the grey areas? Not everything is black and white.

If, with the benefit of hindsight, any of our music has been used for the sale and promotion of products or services we feel are negative, we will seek to offset this harm by providing financial donations to movements, organisations or charities that work to counteract these detrimental activities.

Can I see your Ethical statement?

Yes, it is available on this website via the Info menu. Please note that it is constantly under review and subject to updates and changes that reflect our continued education on the subject.

Are you a B Corporation?

It is our declared aim to start the B Corporation certification process once we have operated for the minimum required 12 months as a for-profit company. In the meantime, we will strive to meet their high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Who owns Alors?

Three musicians, designers and web-developers based in London, who love music, run a record label and used to organise music events at the legendary Plastic People club and Life Bar in London. Alors is by musicians for musicians.

Do you offset your carbon emissions?

No. As per our current understanding carbon offsets amount to little more than pacification of the polluters conscience and have been shown to be counter-productive in many case studies. We strongly believe that what is currently needed is a dual approach of reduction in consumption and a move away from fossil fuels to truly renewable energy sources.
